Greg and Aster were an inseparable team and now their mission moves forward with Greg’s daughter Samantha. This is their story.
Meeting Service Dog Moby was the best day of Dez’s life. It was pure joy and an instant connection. Moby helps Dez with everyday tasks— turning on lights, retrieving his phone and wallet, and helping grab the supplies he needs to put on his prosthesis. When nightmares and anxiety come, Moby physically interrupts them with deep pressure, calming Dez instantly. Moby has given Dez confidence, purpose and the courage to chase new dreams—like earning a spot on the wheelchair tennis team for the 2028 Paralympics in Los Angeles.
For Daryl, service has always been his calling. In 2017, however, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) brought everything to a halt. He could no longer keep working in the jobs that made him who he is. But, when Daryl matched with Service Dog Adria, everything started to change. She interrupts his anxiety with a nudge, pulls him out of nightmares by tugging his blankets off and reminds him daily that he’s not alone.
Adria has given him peace, confidence and the ability to reconnect with life. Today, he serves again — this time, as veteran program manager at Canine Companions. His mission is to help other veterans find the same lifesaving partnership he has with Adria and to ensure no veteran feels alone.
